Please don’t get confused for the same type of visa, work visas and business visas have different purposes and benefits. In March 2021, the Government of Indonesia issued a Regulation of the Minister of Foreign Workers. This latest regulation set that approval of the Plan for the Use of Foreign Workers is now the basis for the authority to grant a limited stay visa known as VITAS.
After receiving your VITAS, immigration in Indonesia will issue your limited stay permit (KITAS/ITAS). This KITAS we can also call a Working Visa in Indonesia.
The Work Visa KITAS is issued to foreign nationals who want to work for an Indonesian company or organization. For a work KITAS, your employer has to obtain a work permit (IMTA) for you from the Indonesian Ministry of Manpower. You will then receive a KITAS based on the duration of your work contract. Misconception: Some people think that a KITAS is a work visa. It is not. You can have a KITAS but not be allowed to work (such as Retirement or Dependent KITAS). A foreigner is only allowed to work in Indonesia after they’ve received a work permit (IMTA).
This work visa is a form of legality for foreigners who get a work permit which is also considered as labor or a type of work, by earning or receiving compensation or salary or wages.
Meanwhile, the Business Visa itself is classified into 2 types, there are single business visas and multiple business visas. For both are business visas that are used for business affairs in Indonesia such as seminars, conferences, unpaid training and others. This type of visa cannot be used for work.
However, a single business visa itself is a business visa obtained that can only be used once to go to a country, this kind of situation is usually given to expatriate people. This is done so that the person is not too free to enter and exit certain countries.
Then, for a multiple entry business visa, it is a business visa with the freedom to stay in the country with our business destination until the visa deadline.
From the two explanations regarding the 2 types of Visas, both Work Visas and Business Visas have different purposes and uses according to the needs of the person who will travel. However, both are proof of the legality that a person has a residence permit in a country for work or business purposes.
In the process of making it for a loyal business trip, it will be very expensive and time-consuming in the manufacturing process as well as the need to work using a work visa. However, it is also possible that the process will become easier. The local government will issue a special visa so that you can freely prepare and develop your business. If your business is growing and safe, this type of visa can be extended to a temporary residence permit to a permanent residence permit and for whoever gets the work visa is until your work contract is extended.
